As the Manuel Antonio specialist, we encourage you to come experience one of Costa Rica’s most striking coastlines and National Park – by open-seat ocean kayak. Whether you are an individual, a group, or an adventurous family, this challenging yet gratifying ocean paddling adventure is just what you’re looking for. The adventure begins near the developing Pez Vela (Sail Fish) Marina in Quepos and winds along the Manuel Antonio coastline. Indulge yourselves at a rare jewel of a beach – a hidden Manuel Antonio treasure at Biezans Bay – for a refreshing swim and delicious local snacks. Allow your bilingual naturalist guide to direct you to the best snorkeling spots as you experience three small but actively astounding coral reef systems nestled very close to the shore of Biezans Bay. After an unforgettable experience at Biezans, continue paddling – if you choose to do so – towards Manuel Antonio National Park and admire the nearby nesting islands where exotic Bobbies and frigates call home year round. Ask your naturalist guide to steer you towards their favorite species’ nesting spots and most popular locations for local aquatic marine life. And finally end your adventure with a satiating hot lunch in typical Costa Rican flavor near the beach at a local Manuel Antonio hot spot before returning to your Costa Rican residence.

Reptilandia & Hacienda Baru

On our search for new attractions in our rich Pacific Coast, we have made a strategic alliance with the private reserve Hacienda Baru. Now offered by hotels in Quepos and Manuel Antonio is another great optional nature walk. This will provide a variety of nature walks to our visitor, giving you the option to choose between the Manuel Antonio National Park, Rainmaker, and Carara National Park. Hacienda Baru offers a Rainforest Bird Watching hike. The two hikes are similar in that they both start early and pass through old cacao plantations, secondary forest and primary forest. You will be birding during the early hours when the birds are most active. The Rainforest Bird Watching Hike begins shortly after daybreak. Your expert guide will take you through old cacao plantations and up into the rainforest. After a couple of hours of hiking and experiencing the early morning jungle, you will arrive at the campsite where you may observe birds at your leisure while your guide fixes coffee, sweet rolls, and granola with milk. After breakfast you will hike through primary forest in search of the bird’s native to that habitat. The dense forest provides unlimited hiding places, and birding here is definitely hard work. With a little luck, you will be rewarded with sightings of some of the more elusive birds such as: trogons, motmots, ant shrikes, manakins, tinamous, curassows among others.

BIRDWATCHING TOURS 369 species of birds have been identified at Hacienda Barú National Wildlife Refuge. This is mostly due to the diversity of habitats found on the 330 hectare (815 acre) reserve.
